Julie Butler, Hygienist
Education: BS Health Management, UNH; Associates Degree Dental Hygiene, NH Tech Institute
I am a certified dental assistant as well as a hygienist. I first began working in dentistry in 1979, and in 1988 I was licensed to practice dental hygiene. Dentistry has changed a lot since I began in this field. Much to my delight it has become more and more prevention oriented. Dr. Hirschfeld is very interested in this aspect of dentistry which I think is so beneficial to our patients.
I went into the dental field because I wanted to do something in the health field where I could have a positive impact on my patients' health. I enjoy interacting with people and getting to know them as individuals. I've learned a lot from my patients! I especially enjoy relating to children and we have a lot of them in our dental practice.
When I am not at the office, I enjoy reading, painting, and hiking with my husband Crawford and our two dogs, Jenny and Scout.

Carlene Taylor, Hygienist
Education: Received my certification in dental assisting from NHTI in Concord in 2000. I then went on to complete an associates degree in health science (2001) and in dental hygiene (2003) also from NHTI.
I was interested in the dental field because I felt that I would be able to help people feel comfortable with dental treatment. Growing up I was fortunate to have good dental care and trusted the people who provided my treatment. I guess you can say my childhood dentist and staff inspired me to do what I am doing today. My favorite part of the job is helping patients learn about not only their oral health but how oral healthcare affects their overall health.
Outside of the office I enjoy baking, camping, and BBQs with my husband Ryan and our pup Remy. Yearly I visit one of the local preschools and speak about the importance of taking care of our teeth and how to brush them properly. I also bake pies/pastries for our local charity auctions.
